Distinguished Visitors
Open for applications
Closing Date: Friday 23rd January 2009
Guidelines and Selection Criteria
Cancer Council SA (CCSA) sets aside limited funds each year to support visits by national or international experts who can add value to cancer control in South Australia. A condition of the award is that it must be used during the calendar year ending 31 December 2009.
Any South Australian agency or department actively involved in cancer research, caring for people affected by cancer, or community education about cancer, may apply to CCSA for a grant-in-aid to bring an appropriate 'distinguished visitor' to South Australia. Since available funds rarely meet the total requested, selection is competitive and based on the following criteria: - 1. The stature and track record of the proposed visitor. 2. The duration and timing of the proposed visit (approximately one working week). 3. The visitor's preparedness to present at several institutions across Adelaide, to be involved in a public meeting and to interact with the media. 4. Whether the proposed costs of travel and accommodation are reasonable. 5. The visitor has not had any association with the tobacco industry. 6. The visitor has not been granted funds from CCSA within the previous three years. 7. Evidence of additional support funds from other sources. 8. Direct relevance to cancer. 9. Applicants should be aware that CCSA has identified the following priority areas for research: Cancer Prevention, Early Detection, Supportive Care, including palliative care, Epidemiology and Community Education. Applications in these areas are particularly encouraged
Report: Successful applicants are asked to provide a summary of the visit once the Distinguished Visitor has completed their trip. |
