Five critical pieces of work have been identified by ProstateSA which have the potential to make a difference to the lives of South Australians affected by prostate cancer. 
 
 
Awareness
Every South Australian man knows how to prevent prostate cancer.
 
   Promote understanding of prostate cancer, prevention and treatment.
 
A Prostate cancer awareness forum hosted on behalf of ProstateSA by the Prostate Cancer Action Group in September Target: $10,000
 
Public Education campaign to promote community awareness and understanding of prostate cancer and the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle Target: $200,000
 
 

Support
Every South Australian affected by prostate cancer can access the best available treatment, care and support.
 
   Develop online clinical cancer support for men with prostate cancer
   GP’s will have the most up to date information available to help men make an informed decision 
   Families will have access to information, counselling and support services.
 
Ongoing multi-faceted GP Education Program (possibly through GP Divisions network or small group learning) to achieve consistency among GPs in the provision of information, diagnosis of prostate cancer and ongoing support Target for stage 1: $50,000
 
 
 
Research
Every South Australian man can be assured that they will benefit from leading prostate cancer research.

   Research to uncover a definitive screening test to detect prostate cancer
   Further research into high risk factors associated with prostate cancer including:
   Family history
   Age
   Environmental and lifestyle factors including diet, weight and physical activity
   Investigation of new treatments aimed at minimising complications.
 


A study to provide a credible snapshot of prostate cancer in South Australia with which to base future decisions and key areas of work Target: $8,500. Thank you BankSA for you generous support


Funding Prostate cancer research to ensure every South Australian man and his family benefits from world class research and innovation Target: $100,000 individual grants
