Nutrition during cancer treatment

Eating well is an important part of your cancer treatment. A good diet will provide everything you need to keep your body working as well as it can.  
 
If you feel weak or nauseous, are losing weight, or have problems swallowing and can only eat small amounts - talk with your doctors
 
It is important to have enough calories and protein in your diet, but sometimes you may not feel like eating
 eat small meals more often
 eat high protein, high energy foods
 use nourishing liquids to boost your food intake
 ask a dietician to make up a meal plan.
 
If you are eating well and are not losing weight, you don’t need to change what you are doing. Keep up a healthy diet
 
Common food problems with cancer treatment
 dry mouth  
 taste changes  
 painful chewing and swallowing
 indigestion  
 nausea
 bowel problems
 lack of appetite
 weight loss.
