Student Vacation Scholarships
Closed for applications
Purpose
The Cancer Council South Australia offers scholarships each year to undergraduates interested in participating in research projects directly related to cancer. These scholarships are tenable for up to eight weeks and will be available during the summer holiday period in recognised research institutions in South Australia. The scholarships are intended to stimulate the interest of students in research and to gauge their research aptitude. The scholarships are not intended to support the employment of students for routine work. Eligibility The scholarships are open to University undergraduates who are enrolled in any Faculty and who have completed at least 2 years of their course at the time the scholarship commences. Only one application per student is permitted and scholarships are only awarded for study at South Australian institutions. If a student accepts an offer of another student vacation scholarship, this will preclude that applicant from a Cancer Council scholarship. Funding The scholar will be paid $200 per week for the agreed tenure, up to a maximum of eight weeks. How many scholarships will be offered? The Student Vacation Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis. Approximately 10 scholarships will be offered each year.
How and where do I find placements? The scholarship project needs to be part of a cancer research program being conducted at a university or other research organisation within South Australia. Your University or Faculty office, or the Office of Research, may have suggestions of organisations where cancer research is currently being carried out.
