Cooking Instructor - Time required: Wednesday or Thursday 11.00 am – 1.00 pm
Greenhill Lodge provides accommodation for people staying in Adelaide during their cancer treatment. Volunteers provide a network of friendly support through social activities. A volunteer is required to coordinate and run a fun and interactive cooking demonstration.
Wholesale Processor for Retail - Time required: Monday 1.00 pm - 4.00 pm Volunteers are required to assist our retail unit with stock management. Warehouse duties include:
Cancer Information Centre - Time required: 10.00 am – 2.00 pm one day per week To greet users and welcome them to the Information Centre, and maintain a comfortable and welcoming environment. Provide information on resources and services available and guide users to the most appropriate resource including assisting them navigate the TCCSA website online. Provide appropriate referral information including the opportunity to speak to a Nurse Counsellor via the dedicated Cancer Council Helpline telephone. Retail - Time required: 3 hour shift once per week 11.00 am – 2.00 pm Cancer Council sells new SunSmart merchandise in our retail outlets. Cancer Council will hold a temporary lease at Tea Tree Plaza for the period 27th October through to Monday 2nd February. Volunteers are required to maximise customer service. One person required per day over the 7 day trading week from 11.00am - 2.00pm. The major roles will be customer service (no computer skills are necessary). Training in point of sales can be given if required. Product training will be given On the Job. Must have good interpersonal skills and friendly nature, be able to communicate well, and work as part of a team. On call for mail outs Volunteers are required for assisting with mail outs of newsletters and resources. This would be occasional work, during office hours, being called upon when needed. On call for events Volunteers are required to assist with National fundraising events. The assistance required depends on the event, and can include volunteering at a site, coordinating a site, assisting with setup, selling merchandise, driving. Times vary with some out of hours work available. Promote the Cancer Council and enable increased fundraising by engaging local Businesses to fundraise by placing a collection box in their shop. The Cancer Council is seeking to increase fundraising opportunities by engaging local businesses. A volunteer is required to visit retail outlets, promote the organisation, with the aim of placing a donation box in the outlet. Details of participating outlets is collected and recorded on our database for future contact. The volunteer is required to have a current driver’s licence, basic computer skills, good communication skills, and a friendly outgoing nature. Caretaker of Indoor plants - Time required: up to 2 hours per week Cancer Council has recently introduced indoor plants into the work environment. A volunteer is required to maintain the indoor plants within the organisation.
Bequests Relationships assistant - Time required: One day per week, approximately 3 – 4 hours To assist TCCSA by building relationships with bequest prospects. There are over 700 people who have indicated they would like to leave money to Cancer Council in their will. Nearly a third of all funds raised by Cancer Council are derived through bequests. These benefactors are of enormous importance to the organisation and there is a need to demonstrate the significance of these relationships simply by keeping in touch. The role calls for a volunteer already familiar with Cancer Council who will phone these people to update their records and have a friendly chat. There does not have to be any reference over the phone in regards to intentions to leave a bequest to Cancer Council. In order to undertake this role, a potential volunteer must:
Memoriam Fundraising Representative - Time required: One day per week To assist TCCSA by collecting donations from funerals and funeral directors, working in partnership with another volunteer. The Memoriam Fundraising Representative will play an important role, which will assist TCCSA to raise a considerable amount of money each year derived from memoriam donations, largely collected through funerals.
