Why do I feel tired all the time?
We don’t fully understand why some people feel tired after their treatment is finished, but it can be related to
Poor nutrition – not getting the right amount and type of food. Look at the tips for healthy eating.
Inactivity – you may have had months or weeks of little activity, and your muscles have lost their condition, so they get tired more easily. In this situation, doing less makes things worse. Start with a little exercise and work up gradually.
Not enough rest – not enough good quality sleep is common. Try these tips for better sleep.
Emotions – even though your cancer treatment has finished, you may still be dealing with emotional issues. Fear, anxiety and uncertainty about the future are common.
You might also feel frustrated and concerned that you have lost control of your life.
Relaxation can help here.
Maybe some of these things could apply to you.
Some people experience ongoing and life limiting fatigue after cancer. Check with your doctor to make sure there is no medical reason for your tiredness.
A few tips for better sleep
Get comfortable – a supportive bed and a comfortable sleeping position will help.
Go to bed and get up at the same time every day. Doing the same things before bed can also help.
Try relaxation techniques.
Avoid food, alcohol and caffeine just before bedtime.
Hide the clock – worrying about not getting enough sleep won’t help.
