Listen Today, 26 South Australians will hear the words ‘you have cancer’. Many of these people will become survivors, with lives changed forever. But sadly, almost half will lose their fight, leaving behind a never-ending ‘ripple effect’ on families and friends. At Cancer Council SA, we know that there is hope - because everyday we’re another step closer to beating cancer in South Australia. 20 calls to a Cancer Council nurse for information and support today. Over 6,400 calls last year. 66 Quitline calls providing support to people wanting to quit smoking today. 17,551 calls last year. 170 guests staying at a Cancer Council Lodge tonight. 30,522 nights of accommodation provided last year. 182 research projects funded last financial year. 729 schools and childcare centres provided with SunSmart status. 1,618 free counselling sessions provided last year. 651 activities performed last year by our Cancer Council Ambassadors. 1,022 volunteers gave up their time to support Cancer Council SA last year. $3,797 donated already today. $31,197 needed today to fund cancer research, prevention & support. Every one of us can do something every day to bring the defeat of cancer closer. So, what will you do today to help beat cancer?
