  • If you or a loved one are fighting cancer, you’re not alone.

    31 March 2017

    Sitting across from my doctor and being told that he’d found a tumour on my spinal cord brought my world to a standstill. It wasn’t the first time I’d experienced such devastating news, but that did nothing to lessen the impact.

    ;

    My path up until this moment had already been rocky and here I was, about to face it all again. The doctor’s words not only upset my world, but had a serious effect on my wife and our family.

    Despite all of this, I am still positive. I want my story to inspire others and give them hope through their bad days.

    The support of my family and friends and my counsellor at Cancer Council SA, has given me comfort when my situation seemed overwhelming and the future seemed so uncertain.

    If you or a loved one have been affected by cancer, you need to know you’re not alone.

    You can speak to a Cancer Council SA nurse for information and support — just call 13 11 20 or go to cancersa.org.au

    For my part, I’ll continue fighting cancer for you and me, and our loved ones.

    Best wishes,

    Gary David
    Cancer Council SA Ambassador
