In December 2014, I was shocked to learn that I had cancer. Nothing could have prepared me for almost a year of treatment that followed and how it would affect me and my family.
Trying to regain some sense of normality afterwards was challenging. Everything had changed so significantly, but with the support of Cancer Council nurses and their gentle encouragement to participate in the Healthy Living after Cancer program, I’ve come a long way in giving myself a healthier future.
It has been so uplifting to reach my goals! I’ve taken these things into my control and know that my whole family is benefitting also from a balanced and nutritious diet, as well as a lowered grocery bill.
If you or a loved one have finished cancer treatment, I encourage you to call 13 11 20 to see if Healthy Living after Cancer could make a difference to your future.
It starts from day one and making this call changed so much for me. I’ve even joined the Marilyn Jetty Swim which raises money for Cancer Council to help other South Australians with all types of cancer and it feels good.
