    Information you may need to know about Cancer Council SA as a registered charity

    Cancer Council SA is a registered charity in the state of South Australia
    (our registration number is CCP489).

    In order to meet the requirements of the Government of South Australia's Collections for Charitable Purposes Act 1939 - Code of Practice, we have made the following information about our organisation available for our valued fundraisers and donors:

    The purpose for which the funds are being collected

    To help Cancer Council SA beat cancer in South Australia by

    • funding critical cancer research
    • reducing cancer risk through prevention and early detection programs, and
    • supporting people affected by cancer.

    Details of restrictions on collection hours

    At an event collections can be taken in a public space during the entire period of the event.

    Unsolicited* residential (door to door) activities must be done during the following hours:

    • Weekdays: 9am – 6pm
    • Saturdays: 9am – 5pm
    • Sundays & Public Holidays: 11am – 5pm
    • No activity to be carried out on Good Friday, Easter Sunday or Christmas Day

    Unsolicited* collection by telephone must be done during the following hours:

    • Weekdays: 9am – 8pm
    • Saturdays: 9am – 5pm
    • No activity to be carried out on Sunday or Public Holidays

    Unsolicited* collection in a public space must be done during the following hours:

    • Weekdays: 7am – 6pm (note restrictions to late-night shopping)
    • Saturdays: 9am – 5pm
    • Sundays & Public Holidays: 11am – 5pm
    • No activity to be carried out on Good Friday, Easter Sunday or Christmas Day

    *where a relationship has not be established with the potential donor

    Requirement to provide a receipt on request for monetary donations of $2 or more

    Receipts are available for all donations of $2 or more.  Cancer Council SA can issue a receipt on request at any time.  To request a receipt please contact us on 1300 65 65 85.

    A summary of the charity of collection agent’s health and safety policy (including extreme weather policy) and how to obtain a copy

    We are committed to providing and maintaining a safe and healthy environment for employees, volunteers, contractors and visitors, and to the continuous improvement of injury prevention and injury management.

    A summary of the charity of collection agent’s underage collection policy and how to obtain a copy

    Authorised fundraisers 15 years of age or younger must be accompanied by an adult when collecting funds in a public forum on behalf of Cancer Council SA.

    Age restrictions or parental permission are required for participation in some of Cancer Council SA fundraising events which are communicated within the event's registration process. 

    In addition to meeting the requirements of the Collections for Charitable Purposes Act 1939 - Code of Practice,  Cancer Council SA is a member of the Fundraising Institute of Australia.  Our fundraising staff all comply with the Fundraising Institute of Australia’s Code of Conduct.
