    Individuals who volunteer on a regular basis, usually in the office, at one of the Lodges, or an external site. Roles can include:

    •    Bus drivers—Providing transport assistance to our guests travelling from the lodges to the treatment centres. 

    •    Cancer Connect—Our free, confidential Cancer Connect service provides an opportunity for you to talk with someone who has ‘walked in your shoes’ and really understands what it’s like to deal with cancer. 

    •    Cancer Information representatives—Representing the Cancer Council at various sites around Adelaide to provide information of Cancer Council Services.

    •    General office volunteers—A variety of office based administration that may include database administration, mailing, filing and telemarketing.

    •    Morning tea and friendly visitors—A weekly morning tea held at both Greenhill and Flinders Lodge that gives you the opportunity to assist, serve and have a friendly discussion to our guests.

    •    Warehouse volunteers—Assisting in the assembly and packing of various campaign material to be used for upcoming events.

    • Administration Volunteer - Technical

      Marketing Byline

      The Corporate Services Administration Team works together to support the donor activities of Cancer Council SA.

      Role description

      The administration team’s primary role is to provide the first point of contact for the public in relation to donations and fundraising event matters, collecting and processing donations and donor information and recording this in our information systems.

      The role will deliver these services and gain a detailed understanding of our information systems to support our fundraising and reporting activities.
       

      Hours and location of this position

      Hours: One day per week or two half days
      Location: Administration team

      Person Specifications

      • Technically inclined and be able to grasp a fair understanding of multiple systems in a short amount of time.
      • Advanced proficiency with MS Office suite of products (Word and Excel a must).
      • Prior knowledge creating Mail Merges is desirable.
      • Analytical and problem solving skills.
      • Receptive to advice and be able to respond to direction.
      • Flexible, enthusiastic and willing to work as part of an energetic team.
      • Ability to act on values.

      • Thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task

      Special Conditions

      • The successful applicant must be a non-smoker.

    • Customer Service Volunteer

      Marketing Byline

      The Marketing, Fundraising and Relationships Unit is responsible and accountable for generating the revenue required to fund strategies for a cancer free future.

      This role is focused on outbound customer service calls to our valuable volunteers, fundraisers and donors for a variety of projects by Cancer Council SA. It’s a courtesy call to keep them informed and saying “thank you” for their contribution to Cancer Council SA.

      Broad role requirements

      • Using Salesforce and excel spreadsheets to navigate call lists.
      •  Data entry into Salesforce and excel spreadsheets.
      • Confident in reading from scripts for the intention to increase registrations and/or revenue.
      • Confident phone manner with strong customer service experience to convey information correctly.
      • Ability to build rapport and engage with clients.

      Person specification (knowledge, skills and experience)

      • Have excellent communication skills.
      • Previous phone customer service experiences and operating telephone equipment.
      • Experience working with diverse stakeholders
      • Knowledge of MS Outlook, Word and Excel
      • Accurate data entry skills with attention to detail

      Hours and location of this position

      Various weekday shifts available between Wednesday and Friday between: 

      • 10am – 2pm
      • 2pm - 6pm 

      There are peak periods and can be interval periods between each project. The role is based at 202 Greenhill Road Eastwood.

      All training will be provided.

    • External Cancer Information Centre Volunteer

      Cancer Council SA is currently recruiting for a Cancer Information Centre Volunteer. This role is based at the Royal Adelaide Hospital within their Information Resource Centre. 

      As a Cancer Information Centre Volunteer, your responsibility is to provide information on resources and services available through Cancer Council SA and guide visitors to the most appropriate resources including assisting them to navigate approved websites online.

      Broad role requirements

      • Greet visitors to CIC and maintain a comfortable and welcoming environment.
      • Provide guidance to practical information about Cancer Council SA resources and services.
      • Record accurate data on visitors for reporting.
      • Attend initial and regular training to update skills and knowledge of Cancer Council and RAH resources and policies.
      • Provide information in accordance with training and be guided by CIC Procedure manual and be aware of boundaries in providing information.
      • Restock resources as required.

      Hours and location of this position

      • External location: Royal Adelaide Hospital - Cancer Information Centre
      • Days and hours agreed on ongoing roster

      All training will be provided.

    • In Memory Volunteer

      Are you compassionate and empathetic? Would you like to make a real difference in the lives of others?

      We are seeking a reliable, compassionate, empathetic volunteer interested in assisting Cancer Council SA (CSAA) with our in Memory program where donations are made in memory of a loved one.

      This opportunity involves:

      • Collecting donations from the offices of funeral homes
      • Attending a funeral service to collect donations from people attending the service in lieu of flowers and returning donations to the Cancer Council SA office
      • Setting up a display table at funeral services
      • Assisting people in completing their donation form
      • Developing and maintaining friendly relationships with funeral home staff

      You will need:

      • Flexibility to attend funerals 
      • Ability to represent Cancer Council SA in a sometimes upsetting environment at funerals
      • A very compassionate approach to bereaved families
      • A current South Australian driving license
      • A high level of interpersonal communication skills 
      • A good understanding of the work of CCSA
      • Good organisation and time management skills
      • To be completely reliable in fulfilling commitments or providing prior notice to enable alternative arrangements to be made where necessary

    • Volunteer Transport Driver

      Cancer Council SA’s vision is for a cancer free future by funding critical cancer research, delivering cancer prevention, education and advocacy programs and providing support to people affected by cancer. Ultimately we aim to save lives and improve the quality of life of South Australians. We have served the community for over 90 years and have an enviable reputation as one of SA’s most trusted charities. 


      One of the services we provide is accommodation across two sites (Greenhill Lodge – Eastwood and Flinders Lodge – Kent Town) for people travelling to Adelaide for cancer treatment. As a part of this operation we provide a bus service for these guests to the Royal Adelaide Hospital, Tennyson Centre Day Hospital and Flinders Medical Centre for treatment. This service is run by a team of dedicated volunteers.
      We now require a few volunteers to assist in running this service for our guests. 

      The routes are:

      Royal Adelaide Hospital:     3 hour shift beginning at 7:30am to 4:30pm; Daily Mon- Fri.
      Tennyson Centre:         9:15am -12:30pm; Daily Mon- Fri.
      Flinders Medical Centre:     1.00pm - 4.00pm; Daily Mon- Fri.


      The service itself runs from Monday to Friday commencing at 7.30am and continue on an hourly basis until the last return journey at 4.30pm. Shift selection is flexible and route selection can be discussed with the successful applicant.
      Our drivers ensure that passengers arrive for their appointments on time and when the treatment is completed for the day, if required, they are returned to their accommodation. Naturally, to do this you will have empathy, a warm nature and a willingness to assist our guests.

      Special Conditions
      •    The buses can be driven with a Class C (Car) driver’s licence. 
      •    A medical assessment will be required prior to commencement.
      •    A National Police Clearance and Department of Human Services Screening will be required prior to commencement.
      •    Participates in regular practical training.
