  • Healthy Living after Cancer

Getting back to a healthy lifestyle after cancer is one of the most important things you can do for your health. Cancer Council SA’s Healthy Living after Cancer program can help you move forward and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

What does the Healthy Living after Cancer program offer?

Cancer Council SA will work with you over 12 weeks to make healthy lifestyle changes by setting goals for physical activity, healthy eating and emotional wellbeing, providing support, tips and motivation along the way.

Over the 12 weeks, there will be four workshops, telephone coaching and the opportunity to connect with peers, as well as information and education from qualified health professionals—including a dietitian, physiotherapist, counsellor and oncology nurse.

What can I expect from doing this program?

“Adopting healthier habits leads to better health after cancer treatment. But learning what to do is not the same as actually doing it! The Healthy Living after Cancer workshops have been developed to help you turn your goals into action. They’re an opportunity to connect with qualified and compassionate health professionals, and your peers.” – Karissa Deutrom, Healthy Living after Cancer workshop facilitator and Accredited Dietitian, Cancer Council SA

“Healthy Living after Cancer is the perfect starting point for good health and regaining a sense of ‘yourself’ after finishing cancer treatment. It’s amazing to see the difference in many participants who report feeling physically re-energised and better able to deal with the emotional effects of their illness.” – Polly Baldwin, Cancer Council SA 13 11 20 Nurse

“The ‘Healthy Living After Cancer’ program can provide you with lots of practical information on how to get moving again, how to get fitter and stronger and get back to the things you enjoy. Let us help you to maximise your quality of life and live well.” – Sarah Clarke, Healthy Living after Cancer workshop facilitator and Accredited Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist.
