Getting back to a healthy lifestyle after cancer is one of the most important things you can do for your future. It reduces the impact of treatment-related side-effects, reduces the chance of the cancer recurring, and boosts overall health and well-being.
What does the Healthy Living after Cancer program offer?
Our experienced cancer nurses provide free health coaching via the phone over six months, making it accessible regardless of your location. We set goals for physical activity and healthy eating, and will help you achieve these goals by providing support, tips and motivation.
What does the program involve?
You’ll be asked to complete a survey over the phone at the beginning of the program, and again at the end. Questions focus on your physical activity and diet, and about your overall health. We’ll email or post you feedback following these surveys so that you can track your progress.
Is it right for me?
The program is available to people over 18 years of age who have completed cancer treatment. It is suitable for people who would like support to become more active and eat more healthily.
What can I expect from doing this program?
“It has been so uplifting to reach my goals! I’ve taken these things into my control and know that my whole family is benefitting also from a balanced and nutritious diet, as well as a lowered grocery bill.”
— Helen, Healthy Living after Cancer participant
“It’s amazing to see the difference in many participants who report feeling physically re-energised and better able to deal with the emotional effects of their illness.”
— Polly, Cancer Council SA nurse
