Assessing Whether Treatment For Childhood Leukaemia Should Be Individualised

Leukaemia kills 30,000 children every year. Treatment causes severe side effects, and the drugs are still dosed using an outdated, generic framework. We know that ‘getting the dose right’ leads to better outcomes in adults, but this has not been well studied in children.

Our study will use patient samples to assess the behaviour of these drugs and to develop a non-invasive blood sampling method. This project will lead to a better understanding of why poor outcomes are seen in some children.
