The aim of the Fund

The Fund was established to support young researchers, in an accredited research department, to undertake research into leukaemia, with the goal of finding a cure for this strain of cancer.

Over the past 40 years, the Peter Nelson Leukaemia Research Fellowship Fund has supported 10 talented researchers to work towards a cure for leukaemia.

Previous recipient of the Peter Nelson Leukaemia Research Fellowship

In 2019, Dr Laura Eadie was awarded with the three-year Peter Nelson Leukaemia Research Fellowship. The fellowship supported Dr Eadie and her team in the search for targeted treatment options with fewer side effects for sufferers of T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (T-ALL).

Working towards a future free from leukaemia

The Peter Nelson Leukaemia Research Fellowship Fund neither seeks nor receives any government funding. Marjorie Jackson-Nelson’s personal time and efforts— along with a group of passionate volunteers—have personally raised the majority of funds so far, with the generous support of Rotary and other groups, companies and individuals who respond to the calls for help. In 2011 the Fund was entrusted to Cancer Council SA to administer and maintain. Your support means that research into leukaemia can continue toward our goal of a future free from leukaemia.
