Cassie is South Australia born—with her mother’s family coming from the Ngarrindjeri Nation within Gerard Community and the surrounding Riverland and Murray Mallee regions of South Australia.
Cassie has worked within the Nunga community of South Australia for many years and has held positions within the youth homelessness sector, Aboriginal Legal Aid and childcare.
Cassie comes to the Quitskills team after a year employed as the Project Officer within the National Best Practice Unit Tackling Indigenous Smoking (NBPU TIS). She brings with her knowledge of NBPU TIS team’s activities and engagement within communities and organisations across South Australia’s regional and remote areas.
It is through her lived experience as an Aboriginal woman—and her working career within urban, regional and remote communities—that she is extremely passionate about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health outcomes, specifically tackling tobacco in remote and very remote areas of Australia.
