Cancer Council SA quitskills educator cassie




Cassie Brown is a proud South Australian born Aboriginal woman, originally from the River Murray and Mallee Region.

She is of Ngarrindjeri and Mirning descent, with her Great Grandmother’s country being Swan Reach and Gerard Mission, and her Great Grandfather’s country, being the Southwest Coast of Western Australia.
Cassie has strong cultural connections to the Narungga Nation having been raised in foster care by a Narungga and Kaurna woman in Adelaide.

Cassie has extensive knowledge, skills and experience within the Tackling Indigenous Smoking (TIS) program having worked supporting TIS teams, educating TIS teams and most recently being a TIS project officer. She commenced her career in tobacco as a project officer at the National Best Practice Unit for Tackling Indigenous Smoking, supporting SA and NT Team TIS teams; before coming to Quitksills to further her training and assessing skills.

Cassie is passionate about educating and supporting her people to be healthy and smoke-free. As an ex-smoker herself, she understands and empathises with community around the challenges of being smoke-free. She is especially passionate about the maternal setting, and hopes to support all mums, babies, and women to be healthy without tobacco.
