Metabolic reprogramming of B-lymphocytes in chronic lymphocytic leukaemia: a new therapeutic strategy

My preliminary work has shown that cancer cells isolated from patients with the most common form of leukaemia, chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) show a shift in the way they use energy to stay alive. We have shown this using a variety of  techniques including analysing protein expression and the levels of important cell components called lipids. This represents a novel concept in CLL and has the potential to revolutionise research in this area by developing new diagnostic tools and treatment strategies.
