Daffodil Day is almost here which means it is the perfect time for you and your workplace to register and plan your very own fundraising event and for all that cancer takes, give to cancer research! Not sure how to get started? We’re here to help!
Whether you have been involved in or held fundraising events in the past or not, there is truly something special about hosting one to support Daffodil Day.
By signing your workplace up and taking part in a Daffodil Day fundraiser, you’ll be joining thousands of fellow Australians raising funds for cancer research, while also creating awareness around the much-loved and iconic day of days.
If you’re not sure what to do, where to start or what holding a fundraiser entails, you’re not alone! Your event can be big, small or something in between, but if you’re still not sure what to do, take a look at our handy list of 6 easy and effective activities for your event:
- Dress Yellow Days
Paint your workplace yellow in support of Daffodil Day. Encourage everyone to dress yellow or dress up for the day for a donation. You can even raise the stakes and make it competitive with a prize for best-dressed!
- Yellow fever
Take it one step further and turn your office yellow and charge and entry fee for the day. The new yellow look will be sure to brighten the mood! Tip: if you can, why not have some yellow-themed stations or activities set up to really encourage everyone to get involved.
- Games nights (or days!)
Who doesn’t love a good game or two? Guess the (yellow) lollies in the jar is always a crowd favourite, or you could even organise a yellow-themed scavenger hunt! Get creative!
- Raffles
You’d be surprised how many people love a good, old-fashioned raffle! Involve your local community, gather some good prizes and start selling tickets around the office.
- Event hosting
Quizzes, morning teas, baking competitions, karaoke nights, talent shows, or even yellow-themed dinner parties and yellow-themed fancy dress days are just some ideas to start with. Let your imagination run as wild as a field of daffodils!
No matter what you choose to do, how much you raise or how many people are involved, every person, every dollar and every fundraiser together makes a big difference. We’re also here to help you every step of the way if you need us!
So, are you signing up?
If you’re still on the fence, remember holding a fundraiser this Daffodil Day is not only a great way to support a cancer free future, it’s also an opportunity to catch up, share stories, and raise much-needed funds and support those you know, and don’t know, who are impacted by cancer. Most workplaces have someone who has been impacted by cancer in some way, so why not get together, show your support and make a difference.
“It’s such an important cause and it gives you a reason to bring everyone together to share something sweet, have a cuppa and a chat.”- Shona Hay on hosting a Cancer Council SA fundraiser at People’s Choice
