Since Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea started 32 years ago, Angela has been a constant presence, hosting fundraisers to support people impacted by cancer. Having missed only one year in that time, and with her 31st event now behind her, she’s already looking forward to the next.
This year, she welcomed more than 100 people into her backyard across two fun-filled days of tea, nibbles, games and, most importantly, connections. Her efforts this year raised close to $6,000 for South Australians impacted by cancer.
While Angela often goes above and beyond for her events, she wants people to know that hosting is as easy as you want it to be.
“Anyone who is unsure about hosting or attending an event, just remember you can host any way you want. Whatever works for you and your little community, you can bring your community together to support people impacted by cancer,” Angela says.
Angela has seen the power of a Morning Tea first-hand. She says the most powerful moment in her time hosting was when a friend came to her event just three months after losing her husband to cancer.
“She gave me the biggest hug and told me it was the first time in months that she had laughed, let alone smiled. She’d gone from barely leaving the house to re-connecting with all of us. That’s what it’s all about, just being together to support each other,” Angela says.
Angela took her impact a step further this year, donating her hair in another selfless act which builds her legacy of generosity. But she’s quick to shift the spotlight away from herself.
She says every Biggest Morning Tea is always about “more than one person”.
With Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea nearly wrapped up for 2025, South Australians have raised a record-breaking $1.4 million to support South Australians impacted by cancer. Every cup poured and dollar raised helps fund vital cancer research, prevention programs and support services across the state.
It’s thanks to passionate people like Angela—and generous supporters like you—that this impact is possible. Learn more about Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea at biggestmorningtea.com.au.
