We have been sharing Poppy’s story with you over the past months – a tough, little girl whose family’s life was turned upside down when she was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukaemia that riddled 98 per cent of her tiny body.

After three long years, four-year-old Poppy has now been given the all-clear and has taken her final medicine with her family by her side.

Poppy’s story touched so many of you and with your incredible support we have raised over $200,000 – and still counting – for vital cancer research, right here in South Australia, that is helping to develop better treatments for children impacted by cancer like Poppy.

Poppy’s dad, Heath says he is so grateful to everyone who has donated to this year’s Tax Appeal, especially with cost-of-living pressures impacting so many families.

“To all the people who have donated out of their pockets, we want you all to know how special you are for doing so and how much this means to families like ours. Together we raised over $200,000 which is such an amazing amount and will go such a long way in helping out those families who need it the most,” Heath says.

We are so grateful for your generous support this tax time. Your generous donations are helping to fund vital research like Associate Professor David Yeung’s from SAHMRI through the Cancer Council Beat Cancer Project. His research aims to develop better treatment options with less long-term side effects for children like Poppy.

In Australia, cancer remains one of the most common causes of death among children aged under 15 years. That’s why finding better treatments isn’t just important, it’s vital… especially for children like Poppy.

Together, all of us can find the next research breakthrough that can save more lives and give more hope to families impacted by cancer.

You can still give a gift to support South Australian families impacted by cancer, like Poppy’s, by donating to Cancer Council SA today.
