Volunteer Transport Driver

Role overview

Do you like driving? Would you like to ensure our guests arrive at medical appointments on time?

Travelling far from home can place further stress on people affected by cancer. Cancer Council SA has two accommodation facilities in Adelaide for country people affected by cancer and their carers. Cancer Council Lodge—Greenhill and Cancer Council Lodge—Flinders provide a friendly place to stay. Complementing our accommodation facilities, the Transport to Treatment Service provides transport to and from one of four treatment centres to further ease the burden on our guests.

As a volunteer transport driver, you will collect guests from our Cancer Council Lodges, transport them to one of four treatment centres across metropolitan Adelaide and return them to the Lodge post-treatment.

Location and time required

The service operates Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays), and is part of an organised roster, with shifts available weekly or fortnightly across three transport services:

  1. RAH / St Andrews Hospital  |  7.30-11am, 11am-2pm, 2-5pm
  2. Genesis Care Tennyson Centre  |  9am-12pm
  3. Genesis Care Bedford Park  |  1-4pm

Services depart from Cancer Council Lodge—Greenhill (Greenhill Road, Eastwood) and Cancer Council Lodge—Flinders (Dequetteville Terrace, Kent Town).
