Statistics show that one in three South Australians affected by cancer are from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds. However, participation in cancer screening programs, such as the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program, is lower among those who speak a language other than English at home compared with English speakers (34.1 per cent compared to 46.4 per cent).
If you or someone you know is going through cancer and you would like more information, we are here to help.
Give Cancer Council SA a call on 13 11 20 – our trained cancer nurses are familiar with using telephone interpreters (via TIS 131 450) and can answer your questions or queries.
