Cancer Council SA would like to sincerely thank the South Australian community for the support received so far during this unprecedented time in Australia’s history. As we all know, Australia has entered into uncharted territory. The recent bushfires, economic downturn and the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic is impacting all of us in very real and challenging ways.
We are committed to ensuring that throughout this difficult time, Cancer Council SA can continue to be there for people impacted by cancer. Which is why we have made some changes to our support services to ensure that we can support you and your loved ones impacted by cancer, every minute, every hour, every day.
Cancer Council Lodges
Thanks to your support and funding from our community, Cancer Council SA’s Lodge accommodation can continue to be offered to regional South Australians in our facilities on
Greenhill Road and Dequetteville Terrace. Our services have been modified to ensure we are following Department of Health recommendations for social distancing. Whilst our communal areas have been closed or restricted, our wonderful chefs are providing an affordable takeaway service Monday to Friday.
Transport to Treatment
Our Transport to Treatment Service continues, with bus numbers modified to ensure that only three guests are transported at one time. The service is in high demand, and our wonderful staff from across the organisation have jumped on board and are helping drive guests to and from hospital to ensure that we can still deliver our services while maintaining social distance.
Phone check in service
From next week, we will also be implementing a phone check in support service, where the Cancer Council SA team will be contacting lodge guests on a regular basis for a friendly chat to make sure they feel supported and connected during this time.
Cancer Council 13 11 20
As always, Cancer Council 13 11 20 continues to be available to offer phone and online support to all South Australians impacted by cancer, with local trained Cancer Nurses available during business hours to provide essential information to those who need it most.

The sudden and overwhelming emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic won’t stop the impact of cancer in our community, and in some instances may exacerbate it—which is why Cancer Council SA is passionate about making sure that we are there to support you, answer your questions and provide support when you need it most.
