Kerry Rowlands, General Manager at SA Water, has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of Cancer Council SA.

Ms Rowlands is currently General Manager Customer and Commercial at SA Water and has led teams of more than 500 people to adopt more customer centric approaches to delivering essential front line water services.

Cancer Council SA Board Chair The Hon Karlene Maywald was delighted to announce the new appointment today.

“Kerry will bring a diverse range of skills to Cancer Council SA. Her proven experience in executive roles, combined with her ability to build strong stakeholder relationships, be that internal, external, government or community, will be an asset as we transition to our new building and operating model,” she said.

“We look forward to welcoming Kerry as the new leader of Cancer Council SA and seeing her make the role her own.”

Ms Rowlands said that she is thrilled with the announcement and is excited to take on the role as the new Chief Executive for South Australia’s leading cancer charity.

“I’m really looking forward to helping guide the team behind another iconic brand that has deep and meaningful connections with so many South Australians,” she said.

“Integrating a genuine people focus to operations and commercial success has been a key motivator and outcome throughout my career, and this role with Cancer Council SA provides a great opportunity to align my personal values with my professional skills, making a difference to the lives of South Australians impacted by cancer.”

Ms Rowlands will commence in her new role on Tuesday 5 October, taking over from outgoing Chief Executive Lincoln Size.

Ms Maywald thanked Mr Size for leading the organisation during his six years in the role.

Meet Kerry Rowlands

Having led large operational, strategic and support teams, Kerry is a humanistic leader passionate about developing and implementing transformational strategies that value and enhance internal strengths and capabilities.

She has more than 20 years’ experience in senior roles in large organisations including SA Water, Kimberly Clark Australia and Faulding Pharmaceutical, with portfolio responsibilities across finance, public affairs, business development, customer service including digitisation, field operations and people and safety.

A graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Kerry has formal qualifications in business and commerce, and is a Certified Practicing Accountant.

Kerry is currently on the Immanuel College Council and is chair of their marketing committee.
