Carolynanha is an Adnyamathanha Aboriginal person from the Northern Flinders Ranges in South Australia.
Despite the missionaries forcing her people to abandon their language and culture, Carolynanha continues to speak Yura Ngawarla fluently and also abides by the cultural kinship structures and protocols of her community.
Carolynanha has been employed by Cancer Council for almost six years, commencing employment as a Counsellor with Quitline for five years prior to this position.
In the past, Carolynanha has worked in a number of settings including child protection, courts administration, and lifestyle coaching in a community health setting.
Qualified in delivering narrative therapy, her training and counselling incorporate storytelling and yarning as a way to support people find ways to navigate through challenges in their lives.
Her current passion is for tackling tobacco and getting positive stories out there about Aboriginal people’s community and culture.
