Creating a culture of belonging
At Cancer Council SA our vision is for our workforce to reflect the diverse communities we work within and support. By embracing the individual skills, thoughts and experiences our people bring to the workplace, we hope to create an inspirational place for our people to volunteer and work.
We are committed to fostering a culture of equity where individual differences are valued, respected and celebrated. We will encourage our people to learn from others with diverse backgrounds, knowledge and perspectives. A culture where we all feel safe and where people can bring their best, authentic self to work every day.
Our Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging Plan provides a clear roadmap for fostering a culture of respect and connection. Driving this vision forward is our BeWell Committee — a passionate group of individuals dedicated to promoting wellbeing and celebrating the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our people. Together, they lead initiatives that raise awareness, encourage meaningful conversations, and help build a more inclusive and supportive environment across our organisation.
Cancer Council SA is proud to have participated in the Multicultural Ambassador Program Pilot, representing the not-for-profit industry. Employees have seen our commitment in promoting cultural diversity through our participation.
We are always striving to reflect the diverse communities we work with and support. In addition to the work we do with multicultural communities to raise awareness of preventable cancers, the importance of screening and how they can access and participate, we are removing potential barriers faced by candidates from a culturally and linguistically diverse background during recruitment and creating a culturally safe place to work.
Multiculturalism will continue to thrive at Cancer Council SA and be a part of who we are and how we connect with our community.
