Cancer Council SA’s confidential information and support service is for all South Australians impacted by cancer when they need it most. Our experienced healthcare professionals are here to listen, answer questions, and guide you to information you can trust, and support services that best meet your needs.
Legal and financial assistance
Cancer and its treatment can present significant financial challenges. Possible loss of income while finding time for appointments and treatments, while facing medical bills and additional travel costs can all take a toll during what is already a challenging time.
Counselling
Living with cancer can affect every part of life – not just health, but also emotions, relationships, and daily routines. It doesn’t just impact the person diagnosed but also families, carers and loved ones. Our free cancer counselling service offers a safe space to talk, share your cancer experience and find support.
Greenhill Lodge accommodation
We’re here for every South Australian impacted by cancer, no matter where they live. Greenhill Lodge provides a home away from home for regional South Australians who need to travel to Adelaide for treatment and cancer-related appointments.
Rural and regional travel for treatment
Travelling to treatment or medical appointments in the city can be challenging, especially when travelling away from home or for treatments which last for many weeks or months – which can place further stress on you during an already difficult time.
Peer support groups
Many people going through a diagnosis of cancer find that talking to someone who has been through a similar experience really helps. Cancer support groups allow people to come together to support each other, share practical tips and develop friendships during what is a really challenging time.
Cancer Connect
When you have cancer, it can be helpful to talk to someone who has been through a similar experience and who understands what it’s like. Cancer Connect is a free and confidential telephone support service that connects you, your carer or loved ones with a trained volunteer who has been through a similar cancer experience.
Healthy Living after Cancer Program
Getting back to a healthy lifestyle after cancer is one of the most important things you can do for your health and wellbeing. The Healthy Living after Cancer Program can help you reach that goal over 12 weeks.
