Investing in research

Tragically, most of us will be touched by cancer at some point in our lives with almost one in two Australians diagnosed with cancer before the age of 85. That’s why continued investment in research is critical.

Cancer research saves lives

Thanks to investment in research, amazing advancements have been made in cancer prevention, screening and treatment – helping to increase survival rates from 52 per cent in the late 1980s to around 71 per cent today.

What you’re making possible

Thanks to generous support from the South Australian community, Cancer Council SA is one of the state’s largest not-for-profit funders of cancer research.

Together with our funding partners, Cancer Council SA has invested more than $52 million into groundbreaking South Australian cancer research since 2012.

This year, Cancer Council SA has invested over $1.8 million into the state’s best and brightest cancer researchers working across a range of research areas and cancer types.
