How it helps

With almost 1 in 2 Australians diagnosed with cancer by the age of 85, all of us will be touched by cancer in some way.

Every dollar you raise goes towards Cancer Council SA’s life-saving prevention programs, funding world-class research and support services for South Australians impacted by cancer when they need us most.

We truly can’t do what we do without support from the South Australian community – and every fundraiser makes a huge impact!

How it works

Step 1: Decide on your idea

Fundraise your way – any way you like. Challenge yourself, quit a habit, host an event, rock a new hair style, or be unique and bring your very own fundraising idea to life.

Step 2: Register with Do It For Cancer

Register your fundraiser online today and get set up with an online fundraising page that you can use to tell your story and share with your friends.

Step 3: Fundraise, online or in-person

Ask your friends, family and colleagues to get behind your fundraiser.

Step 4: Share progress and thank your supporters

Keep your supporters up to date on how you’re going, and let them know how much you appreciate their support.

Step 5: Your funds make an impact

Every dollar you raise will help to reduce the rate and impact of cancer for all South Australians, helping us invest in vital cancer prevention, research and support services that change lives.

Fundraising tips

Here are some handy tips to help make your fundraiser the best it can be. Whether you’re a first timer or you’ve done it before, it always helps to have a plan.

We’re here to make it easy!  Remember, you don’t have to do it alone! Contact us on doitforcancer@cancersa.org.au if you need any advice.

Log in to your fundraising dashboard to update your personal page

Don’t forget to personalise your fundraising page with your reason for supporting Cancer Council SA. It’s a great way to encourage donations, and you never know who could be inspired to donate by hearing your story.

Set ambitious yet attainable goals

Deciding on a fundraising target helps motivate others to help you achieve your goal! You’ll be amazed at the impact you can make once you get started.

Show you're serious by making the first donation

Kickstart your fundraising and show your supporters how important the cause is to you.

Promotion starts with your networks

Share your personal fundraising page with family, friends and colleagues, along with your reason for fundraising. Share your link far and wide and don’t be shy!

The quickest and easiest way is to share your fundraising page’s URL by email, text and on your social media networks.

You can also bring up your fundraiser in everyday conversations with people you meet or at work. You can even add a link to your fundraising page in your personal and work email signature (get a handy template here).

And if you’re planning something big, consider contacting your local paper or radio station!

Share your fundraising photos and progress along the way

Keep your friends and family up to date with how you’re going by sharing some photos from your fundraiser to your social media channels and letting them know about any milestones on your way to achieving your fundraising target!

Thank your supporters

Let your supporters know how grateful you are and thank them as personally as you can, no matter how big or small their contribution.

Don’t forget to bank your funds so we can start helping others

If you have any questions about banking your funds, please contact our Community Fundraising team on doitforcancer@cancersa.org.au or 1300 65 65 85. We are here to help.
