Cancer Council offers a range of free online learning modules and webinars designed for GPs and nurses to strengthen knowledge of cancer and the role of health professionals in prevention, early detection, treatment and supportive care.

Alongside our own resources, we connect you with trusted organisations and accredited education activities that provide up-to-date, evidence-based information to support your practice.

You can order printed Cancer Council resources for free by completing our online Publications Order Form.

National Bowel Cancer Screening Program e-learning module

This accredited, one-hour online learning module gives primary health care nurses the opportunity to increase their knowledge of bowel cancer and the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program.

The module has been developed by Cancer Council WA for the Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association (APNA). The course is free for APNA members and $38.50 for non-members.

Occupational and environmental cancers GP e-learning module

Cancer Council’s 60-minute, self-paced e-module will increase your knowledge of common occupational carcinogens in Australia, the role of an exposure history and the Australian compensation system. This module is accredited with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine.

Talking to community about bowel and cervical screening

Cancer Council Victoria’s free online training course aims to increase knowledge and build confidence to discuss screening, early detection, and immunisation messages to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members. The training involves two, 30-minute, self-paced modules.

Free webinars

Cancer Council NSW has produced a series of recorded webinars on the topics of LGBTQIA+, survivorship, and work and cancer. All registrants are emailed a link to the webinar recording, a copy of the presentation slides and list of resources for future reference.

Cancer Learning is a professional development platform providing access to evidence-based learning activities for health professionals, trainees and students who are interested in cancer care. Topics covered include:

Resources to support high-quality cancer care

The Cancer Nurses Society of Australia website provides a competency standards framework and suite of learning resources targeted at building the capacity of nurses working in cancer care.

Modules include:

  • entry to specialty program
  • case based learning resources across a range of cancer types (colorectal cancer, melanoma, head and neck cancer, acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, lung cancer, ovarian cancer, prostate cancer, breast cancer, oesophageal cancer, osteosarcoma, lymphoma)
  • supporting modules focused on key aspects of cancer control.
