Cancer Council SA and AusCycling announce Whole-Sport Partnership in South Australia

13 Nov 2023

Blog

We are so excited to announce that we have partnered with AusCycling, to support Ride for a reason in 2024!

AusCycling

As part of the partnership, our Ride for a reason participants will have exclusive access to AusCycling’s events, including group rides through the Tour Down Under and a whole calendar of cycling events throughout the year.

We’ll also work with AusCycling to get the SunSmart message out to their members, with all clubs hosting events gaining access to SunSmart resources and products to help members protect their skin while riding.

Nearly every discipline of bike racing and riding means spending extended periods of time outdoors, exposed to harmful UV radiation from the sun. For some regular riders that can really start to add up!

With two in three Australians expected to develop some form of skin cancer by age 70, anything we can do to help raise awareness of the importance of sun protection and protect AusCycling’s members from future risk of skin cancer will make a difference.

Cancer Council SA General Manager Strategy, Engagement and Communication Sally Warner said, “We are thrilled to partner with AusCycling and ride towards a sun-safe future. Tackling cancer takes all of us, I hope you will join us and support Ride for a reason in 2024. By participating you are helping us to reduce the rate and impact of cancer and save South Australian lives.”

Ride for a reason challenges cyclists to ride as many Ks as they can while raising vital funds for Cancer Council SA’s prevention, research and support services for all South Australians impacted by cancer.
