Meet Steve, our Cancer Council SA Social Worker

Social Work is one of the vital services Cancer Council SA offers to our regional guests, who have travelled to Adelaide for cancer treatment. Our Social Worker, Steve is on hand to chat to our guests about practical issues, provide information about services, and offer a safe and confidential space to talk about some of the issues a cancer experience can bring.

Ken’s 12 month stay at Cancer Council’s Greenhill Lodge

Ken is from Menindee, a small town 630 kilometres from Adelaide, and has been staying at Cancer Council’s Greenhill Lodge for 12 months, while receiving treatment for acute lymphatic leukaemia.

Broken Hill shaved their mullets for Cheryl and Rob

Broken Hill locals, Cheryl and Rob have both had their own individual cancer experiences – Cheryl with myeloma and Rob with prostate cancer – which have meant travelling to Adelaide for cancer treatment and staying at Cancer Council SA’s supported accommodation.

A huge thank you to our incredible volunteers!

This National Volunteer Week we celebrate our amazing Cancer Council SA volunteers who make our life-saving work possible. In the past year, 749 individual volunteers supported Cancer Council SA and dedicated 6,688 hours to various roles across the organisation to ensure we can continue to support South Australians impacted by cancer!
